Tobyhanna Township residents and businesses are required by ordinance to recycle. The items to be recycled are:
Corrugated Cardboard and Boxes; Paper-office, newspapers, magazines, junk mail, shredded paper, books, cereal boxes and the like; Plastics - all numbers accepted; Aluminum and Bi-metal cans; Plastic bags and film; Glass-all colors.
The Township has three options for recycling.
1.)
The Township Recycling Drop-off and Transfer Station is located on Sullivan Trail Road. The Transfer Station hours of operation are Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and closed on Sundays and Holidays. The center accepts recyclables as well as bags of household trash and large items to be disposed of. THERE IS A FEE FOR THIS SERVICE.
2.) In the spring and fall of the year, the Township holds clean-up days at the station, which is operated by Panther Waste Systems. On these clean-up days, recyclables are not accepted and rates are charged according to a schedule set by Panther Waste Systems.
Proof of residency or property ownership is required to utilize this facility such as a tax bill, lease agreement or PPL bill. Please call the Transfer Station at (570) 646-5178 during hours of operation for further information.
3.) Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority operates the recycling drop off sites in the county.

THERE IS NO FEE FOR THIS SERVICE.

The other option available to residents is curbside recycling pick-up done by your own private trash hauler.
DEER CARCASS REMOVAL
"We are happy to announce the County of Monroe and the Monroe County Waste Authority has finalized an agreement for pickup, removal and disposal of deer from the County's roadways. The Authority will act as the County's agent and or contractor under a preexisting agreement with the Pennsylvania Game Commision and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation until such time as the Waste Authroity can become a direct party with the other agencies.
The excellent service that has been provided to the county residents will continue. Please call the Waste Authority at 570-643-6100 or call our toll free number at 888-502-6055 to report a dead deer needing to be picked up and properly disposed. Click on the "Contact Us Online" link in the upper right hand corner of the homepage and in the comments box, please give us the township where the deer is, the location/road and any intersecting roads. Also give us your name and phone number in case we are unable to locate the deer."
